DELTA-born National Commissioner, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, has assumed duty as Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the completion of Prof. Mahmood Yakubu’s second tenure.
Yakubu officially handed over during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners on Tuesday in Abuja, marking the end of his ten-year leadership marked by key electoral reforms, including the BVAS and IReV systems.
Agbamuche-Mbu, a lawyer representing the South-South zone, will oversee INEC’s operations pending the appointment of a substantive chairman by President Bola Tinubu.
