Tinubu Arrives Lagos After Plateau Condolence Visit
PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday evening arrived in Lagos to observe the Easter celebrations and commission key infrastructure projects, following a condolence visit to Plateau State.
The President’s aircraft touched down at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 7:20 p.m., where he was received by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside top government officials and dignitaries.
Plateau Visit and Security Directives
Earlier in the day, Tinubu had been in Jos, where he visited communities affected by the recent deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba.
During the visit, the President met with bereaved families, former governors, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders to assess the security situation and offer condolences.
He directed security agencies to intensify efforts in tracking down those responsible for the killings.
“The perpetrators must be brought to justice,” Tinubu stated, assuring residents of the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the area.
Project Commissioning in Lagos
While in Lagos, the President is expected to inaugurate several landmark projects executed by the Sanwo-Olu administration.
Among them is the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, designed to significantly ease traffic congestion within the metropolis.
Other projects slated for commissioning include the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building, a Multi-Agency Complex named in honour of the President, and a newly completed school facility aimed at improving access to quality education.
Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the projects reflect the state government’s commitment to development and improved living standards for residents.
Further Engagements Across States
According to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the President will proceed to Ogun State on Saturday to inaugurate the Gateway International Cargo Airport.
He is also expected to commission two commercial aircraft designated for export and import operations, part of efforts to boost trade and logistics nationwide.
Additionally, Tinubu will inaugurate the new headquarters of the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service and unveil operational vehicles to enhance the agency’s efficiency.
Next Stops: Bayelsa and Abuja
After his engagements in Ogun, the President will return to Lagos to continue the Easter holiday before travelling to Bayelsa State on April 10 to inaugurate projects executed by Governor Douye Diri.
He is expected to return to Abuja upon completion of his official schedule.
