AFCON 2025 on Brink of Breaking Attendance Record
ATTENDANCE at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has crossed the one-million mark, bringing the tournament within reach of setting a new attendance record.
According to official figures, over one million spectators have already watched matches across host venues, leaving the tournament just 56,300 fans short of surpassing the previous record of 1,109,593 set at AFCON 2023.
The surge in attendance has been attributed to improved infrastructure, efficient organisation and the growing appeal of African football, particularly as the tournament enters its decisive knockout stages.
Organisers expect quarterfinal and semifinal fixtures to further boost numbers, with marquee matchups and rising fan interest likely to push overall attendance beyond the existing benchmark.
If the trend continues, AFCON 2025 will become the most attended edition in the competition’s history.
