ROYAL Air Maroc (RAM) has become the airline of choice for African sports journalists covering the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025. The carrier, already confirmed as CAF’s Official Global Partner, is benefiting from growing organic loyalty among media professionals ahead of the tournament, scheduled from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
Industry analysts attribute RAM’s popularity to its expansive African network, reliable scheduling, and efficient hub operations via Casablanca, which offer a lifeline for deadline-driven tournament coverage.
Voices from the Press Box
Nigerian football writer and broadcast analyst Akin Adeyemi said the airline’s punctuality has become a competitive advantage for tournament reporters working across time zones.
“When you are chasing post-match interviews and filing stories across time zones, you need an airline that keeps to schedule. Royal Air Maroc gives that confidence,” he said, while also calling for more direct routes from Nigeria and dedicated travel packages for journalists and fans.
Kenyan journalist Grace Wanjiru echoed similar sentiments, praising RAM’s intra-African connectivity.
“I can fly from Nairobi, connect smoothly, and arrive refreshed for matchday coverage,” she said.
Why It Matters
Ghanaian broadcaster Kwame Boateng and South African correspondent Thabo Maseko both highlighted generous baggage allowance and careful equipment handling as crucial perks for media professionals travelling with cameras, laptops, and broadcast kits.
Observers say the airline’s frequent flight options and modern fleet are helping journalists reduce travel fatigue and stay focused on analysis, interviews and real-time reporting.
