AbilityX Conference Pushes For Stronger Disability Inclusion In Nigeria
By DAVID JOHN-FLUKE
NIGERIA’S inaugural Disability Inclusion Conference, AbilityX 1.0, is set to push for deeper, long-term inclusion of persons with disabilities across key sectors such as finance, employment, entrepreneurship, healthcare, media, hospitality, and data-driven policymaking.
The event, scheduled for 2 December 2025, at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, is organised by Project Enable Africa (PEA) in partnership with Jobberman Nigeria, as part of activities marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
With the theme “The Future of Disability Inclusion in Nigeria,” the conference aims to shift national conversations from advocacy to concrete action. PEA’s Executive Director, Olalekan Owonikoko, said AbilityX seeks to position persons with disabilities as key contributors to Africa’s inclusive future by exploring how data, technology, and the future of work intersect with disability inclusion.
Confirmed speakers include leaders from business, government, and civil society such as Dr. Kola Olugbodi, Temi Dalley, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Sport Mobolaji Ogunlende, Oluseun Onigbinde of BudgIT, and inclusion advocate Cosmas Okoli.
Jobberman Nigeria described the partnership as part of its mission to support inclusive growth and expand opportunities for marginalised groups.
The event will also feature the AbilityX Impact Award, honouring individuals and organisations driving disability inclusion. AbilityX evolves from PEA’s six-year DIAL Forum into a broader innovation-focused platform dedicated to advancing disability inclusion across Africa.
