AAU Student Sends SOS To Acting VC, Begs Him To Help Her Recover Funds Paid To Lecturer
A senior journalist cum law student of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Mrs. Henrietta Oyakhilome has cried out to the Ag. Vice Chancellor of AAU, Prof. Osadolor to intervene and use his good offices to get a lecturer in the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Engr. Stanley Obozuwa to refund her the sum of N130,000 being money she transferred to his Fidelity Bank account in two instalments of N80000 and N50000 on October 14 and 28 respectively, to help her secure hostel accommodation in one of the campus hostels, Igbinedion hostel.
In a letter of appeal made available to newsmen, she stated that Mr. Obozuwa had asked her to transfer the said amount, to his account to enable
him pay the agent he was working with but failed to do so for over three weeks.
She added that last Friday, after several attempts to get the engineer to fulfil his part of the agreement, he called her in nd afternoon to inform her that the agent said he had secured a space 5, which she outrightly rejected on the ground that the space was up bunk and at her age, she cannot be climbing up bunk to sleep everyday throughout the academic session and for such an outrageous amount.
According to her, the official cost of space in the said hostel is within the range of between 28 and 30 thousand naira, so she demanded a refund of her money to enable her pay for another ideal space she had secured since it was obvious that neither Engr. Obozuwa nor his agent could get her the desired space as agreed to which Engr. Obozuwa accepted with the promise to transfer her money to her Zenith Bank account before day break of Saturday, October 30, 2021.
Matters however took a twist when Engr. Obozuwa despite many promises to do so, one week after has not made the refund and to make matters worse has stopped picking her calls or responding to her messages both WhatsApp and SMS.
Armed with screenshots and phone record evidences of her interaction with Engr. Obozuwa over the past four weeks, Mrs. Oyakhilome is seeking the intervention of the university’s acting vice chancellor and to draw his attention to the unfortunate case if hostel accommodation racketeering going on in the institution, a avenue through which some staff of the institution are milking already impoverished students dry.
Efforts to reach Engr. Obozuwa for his comments proved abortive as calls out across to his telephone lines were neither answered not returned.
