By MELVIN KOFFA
THE House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on the Plateau Crisis will soon present its report on the root causes of the violence in the state to President Bola Tinubu.
Committee Chairman, Rep. Wale Ahmed (APC–Lagos), disclosed this during a visit to the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, in Abuja. He said the committee’s goal is to find lasting solutions to the recurring conflicts that have claimed many lives and destroyed property.
Ahmed noted that the committee had engaged former Governor Joshua Dariye, civil society groups, traditional rulers, security agencies, and over 300 individuals and organisations to gather diverse perspectives and recommendations.
He said the final report would be submitted to the House and then to President Tinubu, who remains committed to restoring peace in Plateau and other troubled parts of the country.
In his response, Prof. Yilwatda lamented the devastating impact of the crisis on the state’s economy and image, stressing the need for a thorough investigation and sustainable peace plan.
