NIGERIAN troops and ISWAP militants engaged in heavy clashes on Thursday across Mafa and Dikwa areas of Borno State. Security sources said ISWAP attacked army positions in Mafa, looted weapons, and burned vehicles after hours of fighting. Soldiers, backed by the Air Force, reportedly repelled the militants in Dikwa. Casualty figures remain unclear, and the Army has yet to issue a statement. The incident follows last week’s killing of troops, including a lieutenant colonel, in Bama.
