Nigeria Impresses At Global Military Sports Science Symposium In UAE

NIGERIA has made a strong showing at the 2025 International Military Sports Council (CISM) Scientific Symposium held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 20 to 22 October.
Led by Air Vice Marshal Nanju Kenneth Khumzi, the Nigerian delegation joined over 130 participants from 35 countries at the event themed “Physical Readiness and Resilience in the Armed Forces: Challenges and Foreseeing the Future.”
Lieutenant Colonel Okou Femedein Timipre, Executive Secretary of the Defence Headquarters Military Sports Council, presented a paper on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, highlighting Nigeria’s contributions to global peace, resilience, and sports science.
Other delegates included Major General Abdullahi Maikano, CISM Vice President and OSMA President; Lieutenant Commander Obinna Patrick Okonkwo; and Sergeant Emmanuel.
Air Vice Marshal Khumzi commended Nigeria’s impactful participation, noting that the event enhanced military cooperation and knowledge-sharing.
Hosted for the first time in the Middle East, the symposium featured 43 expert speakers and underscored the growing role of sports science in strengthening global defence readiness.
