Owan Marathon To Sponsor Athletes To Sports University

THE organiser of the annual 10km Owan Marathon, Chris Ojo, announced plans to sponsor top-performing athletes from Owan communities to the new Sports University in Afuze.

Ojo said the initiative will reward marathon participants who excel in the race and provide them with skills to succeed in sports as a career. He praised President Tinubu for signing the university bill, noting it will offer quality education, curb youth restiveness, and create global opportunities for Nigerian athletes.

The 5th edition of the marathon is scheduled for 3 January 2026.
