NMC, NOUN Partner To Boost Mathematics Education & Research

THE National Mathematical Centre (NMC) has announced plans to collaborate with the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna), and the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) to enhance teaching, learning, and research in Mathematical Sciences.

According to NMC Director-General, Prof. Promise Mebine, the partnership will enable the Centre to run postgraduate programmes in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and related fields, with support from TETFund.

He said the initiative is part of efforts to transform the NMC into a National University of Mathematical Sciences (NUMS), which would help tackle the shortage of high-level manpower in the field.

Mebine added that the collaboration would also strengthen Nigeria’s capacity in key areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Theoretical Physics, positioning the country as a regional hub for advanced mathematical innovation.
