Oyetola Urges Global Investors to Tap Into Nigeria’s Maritime Hub
By FRED LONGJOHN OBEH
NIGERIA’S Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has urged global investors to seize opportunities in Nigeria’s maritime sector, describing it as a gateway to Africa’s economic growth.
Speaking at the London International Shipping Week (LISW) 2025, Oyetola—represented by NIMASA DG Dr. Dayo Mobereola—highlighted Nigeria’s reforms in port modernisation, maritime security, and sustainable shipping. He said the success of the Deep Blue Project, which has kept Nigeria piracy-free for three years, proves the country is a safe investment hub.
He also pointed to infrastructure gains like the Lekki Deep Sea Port, set to become a major transhipment hub for West and Central Africa. Oyetola stressed that Nigeria’s waterways are central to the African Continental Free Trade Area and urged investors to focus on long-term benefits.
