Shell Buys Dangote Fuel As U.S. Orders Grow

By ESTHER McWILLIS-IKHIDE
SHELL has purchased a petrol cargo from the Dangote Refinery, as another shipment of Nigerian-made gasoline heads to the United States.
Reuters reports that global trader Vitol, in partnership with U.S. distributor Sunoco, delivered the refinery’s first gasoline cargo to New York Harbor aboard the Gemini Pearl. A second shipment handled by Glencore has been sold to Shell and is en route on the vessel MH Daisen, expected to arrive 19 September.
The sales mark a milestone for the $20 billion Lagos-based refinery, demonstrating its ability to meet stringent international fuel standards.
