Tunisia Qualify For 2026 World Cup As Second African Team
TUNISIA have officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, becoming the second African country to book their place at the global tournament after Morocco.
The Carthage Eagles secured qualification on Monday with a late winner from Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, who scored in the fourth minute of added time to seal a 1-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea. The goal, assisted by Firas Chaouat, sparked wild celebrations among Tunisian players and fans.
With the result, Tunisia sit comfortably at the top of Group H with 22 points from eight matches, 10 points ahead of second-placed Namibia, who still have a game in hand. Remarkably, the North Africans have not conceded a single goal throughout the qualifying campaign.
This qualification marks Tunisia’s seventh World Cup appearance and their third consecutive tournament, having featured in Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022, where they exited at the group stage in both editions.
The Carthage Eagles now join Morocco, who earlier booked their place at the tournament with a commanding 5-0 win over Niger in Rabat.
