Nollywood Veteran Joke Silva Announces Death Of Her Brother
VETERAN Nollywood star Joke Silva is mourning the death of her elder brother, John Olabiyi Silva, who passed away on 29 August 2025, at the age of 72.
The actress confirmed the sad news in an emotional post shared on Instagram on Thursday, where she paid tribute to her late brother with heartfelt words.
“With acceptance of God’s Sovereign will, we announce the call to the glory of my dear brother, John Olabiyi Silva …long John Silva…Bros B…Uncle B…. my easy go lucky brother. Rest in peace. 22nd January 1953 – 29th August 2025,” she wrote.
The news comes at a difficult time for the actress, who has also been caring for her husband, legendary actor Olu Jacobs, amid his ongoing battle with dementia.
Following the announcement, condolence messages have poured in from fans and colleagues in the Nollywood industry, celebrating the life and memory of John Olabiyi Silva.
Though not a public figure like his sister, he was fondly remembered by family and loved ones with nicknames such as “Long John Silva,” “Bros B,” and “Uncle B.” His passing has left a deep void among those closest to him.
