Man, 23, Docked Over Alleged Possession Of Stolen Phones
A 23-year-old man, Muhammud Dayyabu, on Thursday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, over alleged possession of stolen phones.
Dayyabu, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of possession of stolen phones, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 28 at 8.00p.m in Ado-Ekiti.
Oriyomi said that the police, during a stop and search routine, found seven smart phones on the defendant, which was suspected to have been stolen.
He said that the defendant could not give any reasonable explanation on how he got the phones.
Oriyomi said the offence contravened Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses.
Defence counsel, Mrs Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant her client bail, promising that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
Adeosun adjourned the case until October 9 for mention. (NAN
