Wike, Five Other Former Governors To Make Tinubu’s Ministerial List
Despite the protests of Rivers State APC, immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is among former governors being considered for President Tinubu administration’s ministerial appointment.
Wike who parted ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and worked for Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the build up to the 2023 electioneering campaign is being considered along four other former governors.
Other former governors in the ministerial list include Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State,
Senator Gbenga Daniels of Ogun State and former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi.
The names have already be submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the DSS for screening.
President Tinubu who is a former governor of Lagos State, it is understood, is more comfortable working with former colleagues. This is coming almost two months since his swearing in, as the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Niger stipulates that a president or governor must appoint his ministers or commissioners at least sixty days after taking the oath of office.
This may be the first time in Nigeria that a sitting President will be considering members of opposition parties for ministerial appointment.
