Vanguard Editor, Eze Anaba Emerges NGE President
THE Editor of Vanguard newspaper, Mr. Eze Anaba was on Friday, June 16, 2023 elected President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE)
Mr. Anaba garnered 250 votes to eat his opponent, Mr. Bolaji Adebiyi at the biennial convention of the NGE which helt at Owerri, the Imo state capital.
Other officers elected to form part of the new executive of NGE are Sheddy Ozoene (Vice President East), Charles Kalu (Social/Publicity Secretary), Chinedu Egere and Dom Isute (Standing Committee East), Onuoha Ukeh, Rose Moses and Oluwole Sogunle (Standing Committee West).
Husseina Bangshika who contested for the position of Deputy President, Steve Nwosu for Treasurer, Kabir Alabi Garba for Vice President (West), Gabriel Akinadewo Folajimi for (Assistant Secretary), Umoru Ibrahim (Vice President North), Muhammad Sanusi and Paulyn Owhievbie Ugbodaga both of who stood election for Standing Committee (North) were returned unopposed, while Ademola Adegbamigbe who contested for the position of Standing Committee were disqualified for improper documentation.
About 350 editors arrived Owerri on Thursday to attend the Biennial Convention of the Guild of Editors, which was declared open earlier in the day by the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma at Rockview Hotel, Owerri.
The Eze Anaba led executive succeeds that of the immediate past president, Mustapha Isa and will run for the next two years.
