Oborevwori Mourns Adiotomre, Hails Late Elder’s Wisdom & Statesmanship

DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has mourned the death of Chief Mike Adiotomre, an elder statesman and political leader from Ovu-Inland in Ethiope East Local Government Area.
Adiotomre died at the age of 88.
In a condolence statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor described the late elder as a man whose knowledge, experience and public service left a lasting impression on Delta State.
According to Oborevwori, Adiotomre played an influential role in public affairs and politics, particularly in Ethiope East and Delta Central.
He also described him as “a school, a library and a compass” for people who sought his counsel and experience.
The governor recalled that Adiotomre served the old Bendel State and later Delta State in several public positions.
Among other responsibilities, he served as Secretary of the defunct Bendel State Hospitals Management Board.
Beyond his official positions, however, Oborevwori highlighted Adiotomre’s role in promoting dialogue and understanding across political divides.
The governor said the late elder remained a calm voice during periods of political tension.
Moreover, he noted that political actors across party lines respected his counsel and moderation.
Adiotomre’s reputation for reconciliation, Oborevwori added, contributed to his appointment to the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council.
There, he was recognised as a “voice of wisdom and moderation”.
According to the governor, the late elder consistently used his interventions to encourage understanding, unity and reconciliation.
“His interventions always birthed understanding, unity and reconciliation, a testament to true heroism and statesmanship,” Oborevwori said.
Meanwhile, the governor extended his condolences to the Adiotomre family, the people of Ovu-Inland and Ethiope East, as well as the wider Urhobo community.
He also prayed for strength for the deceased’s family, associates and other mourners.
Oborevwori prayed that God would grant Adiotomre eternal rest and comfort those affected by his death.
