Delta Police Arrest Commissioner, Three Others Over Adeda’s Death, Hunt Two Suspects

THE Delta State Police Command has arrested the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, and three others as investigations continue into the death of a Deputy Director in the ministry, Mr. Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda.
According to the Command, the arrests bring the number of people currently in police custody over the investigation to five.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for two other persons described as key suspects in the case.
The suspects are Clemetine Ufuoma, Director of Basic and Secondary Education, and Clement Apia, the driver to the Commissioner for Secondary Education.
In a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that investigators were seeking the two suspects as the probe progresses.
The development follows ongoing efforts by the police to establish the circumstances surrounding Adeda’s death and determine the roles, if any, of those connected to the case.
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Samuel E. Erale, urged Ufuoma and Apia to make themselves available to the police without further delay.
The police chief also assured the deceased’s family and members of the public that investigators would pursue the case thoroughly and professionally.
According to Erale, the investigation would remain impartial, while due process would guide the handling of the case.
He further stated that anyone found culpable would face the law.
For now, the police have not disclosed the specific allegations against each of the persons arrested. The ongoing investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding Adeda’s death and determine whether any of those under investigation should face criminal charges.
As the search for the two outstanding suspects continues, the Command has called for their cooperation with investigators.
