Trump Support: Lobbying Firm Claims Tinubu’s $9 Million US Push Collapsed

A United States-based policy advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has claimed that efforts to secure President Donald Trump’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid have failed.
The firm made the claim in a statement posted on its official X account on Tuesday, September 1.
According to the firm, Tinubu’s Special Advisers and their supporters are unhappy with its founder, Dr. Von Batten, over its alleged role in frustrating a reported $9 million lobbying campaign.
Von Batten-Montague-York also claimed that a planned meeting between Tinubu and Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations gathering would no longer take place.
“We have learned that Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, his Special Adviser, Sunday Dare and their supporters are deeply unhappy with us,” the firm said.
It attributed their alleged frustration to its involvement in the lobbying efforts.
The firm further claimed that the reported push to secure Trump’s backing for Tinubu’s presidential campaign had collapsed.
It said the proposed White House meeting would also not hold.
“You spent millions of dollars and countless hours trying to shape Washington’s perception of President Tinubu,” the firm said.
Von Batten-Montague-York accused Tinubu’s camp of spreading what it described as false accounts about its activities.
The firm, however, did not provide independent evidence in the statement to substantiate its claim about the reported $9 million expenditure.
It also maintained that its role was limited to lobbying and policy advisory work.
“We are just a lobbying firm. You are the Federal Government of Nigeria. Show some dignity when you lose,” it said.
