Delta Fixes August 29 For Monthly Environmental Sanitation

By PAULINA NZERUBE
The Delta State Government has fixed tomorrow Saturday 29 August 2026 for the monthly environmental sanitation exercise across the state.
The exercise will hold from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., according to a special notice issued by the state government.
However, the government said residents and motorists will not face any restriction on human or vehicular movement during the exercise.
Despite this, authorities urged residents to actively participate in cleaning their homes and immediate surroundings.
Residents should clear overgrown weeds, desilt blocked drainage channels and dispose of waste properly.
The government also urged households and business owners to clean their surroundings within a 20-metre radius.
It stressed that environmental cleanliness remains a collective responsibility.
A cleaner environment, it added, can help prevent diseases and improve public health across communities.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner, Permanent Secretary and staff of the relevant ministry, alongside other government authorities, will monitor compliance during the sanitation period.
The government therefore called on residents to cooperate with monitoring teams and support efforts to maintain cleaner and healthier communities.
