NAMA Raises Alarm Over Fake Recruitment Letters
The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has warned Nigerians against fraudulent recruitment schemes involving fake employment and appointment letters purportedly issued in the agency’s name.
The warning followed reports of individuals and groups allegedly exploiting unsuspecting job seekers by falsely claiming to have recruitment opportunities within NAMA.
Agency Denies Ongoing Recruitment
In a statement signed by NAMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr. Abdullahi Musa, the agency said it was seriously concerned about the development.
NAMA stated clearly that it is not currently conducting any recruitment exercise.
It therefore warned that anyone claiming to recruit workers, facilitate employment or issue appointment letters on behalf of the agency is operating without its knowledge or authorisation.
The agency said the fraudulent activities could cause financial losses to job seekers while also damaging NAMA’s corporate identity and credibility.
Job Seekers Warned Against Payments
NAMA urged members of the public to exercise extreme caution when responding to employment offers allegedly linked to the agency.
In particular, the aviation agency advised Nigerians not to make payments to individuals or intermediaries claiming they can secure NAMA employment.
Job seekers were also cautioned against submitting sensitive personal information or entering into transactions with persons whose employment claims have not been independently verified.
Verify Recruitment Information
NAMA advised anyone who receives a recruitment notice, employment communication or appointment letter bearing its name to verify the document through the agency’s recognised official channels before taking further action.
The agency specifically warned the public against relying on unofficial correspondence, social media messages or representations from unauthorised intermediaries.
According to NAMA, no individual or third party has been authorised to demand money or other benefits from applicants in exchange for employment.
Public Asked to Report Fraudsters
The agency called on Nigerians to report suspected cases of impersonation and fraudulent representation to the appropriate authorities.
NAMA further stressed that it would not accept responsibility for losses suffered by individuals who transact with fraudsters or unauthorised persons falsely presenting themselves as representatives of the agency.
The warning underscores the need for job seekers to verify employment opportunities through official channels, particularly amid growing attempts by fraudsters to exploit unemployment and the demand for government jobs.
