Oborevwori Delivers 30-Seater Bus To Kwale Medical University

GOVERNOR Sheriff Oborevwori has reaffirmed Delta State’s commitment to supporting the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale, with the presentation of a new 30-seater Coastal Bus to the institution.
Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme handed over the vehicle on the governor’s behalf at Government House, Asaba.
The governor said the support formed part of his administration’s wider commitment to education, healthcare and the development of skilled manpower.
He stressed that institutions such as the Kwale-based university play an important role in preparing professionals needed to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare system.
Oborevwori said the Delta State Government recognised that the university needed support to effectively pursue its academic and institutional goals.
He therefore assured the management that the state would continue to collaborate with the institution wherever possible.
According to him, the government would consider requests for assistance within the limits of its available resources.
The governor said the newly presented bus fulfilled an earlier commitment to the university.
He expressed confidence that the vehicle would improve mobility and support the institution’s administration and other official activities.
Delta hosts several federal universities and tertiary institutions in addition to institutions established and funded by the state government.
Oborevwori said the presence of these institutions strengthens the state’s educational landscape but also creates a need for cooperation and shared support.
The administration, he added, remains prepared to assist institutions that contribute to the development of Delta and the country.
Prof. Abel Nze Onunu, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale, received the bus on behalf of the university.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for making good on his pledge.
Onunu described the intervention as timely and significant.
He said the vehicle would support the university’s activities and improve its operational capacity.
The Vice-Chancellor also praised the growing partnership between the institution and the Delta State Government.
He said sustained cooperation could help the university achieve its core objectives and contribute to the training of more medical and health professionals.
Nigeria continues to face a major need for skilled personnel across the healthcare sector.
Institutions dedicated to medical and health sciences therefore have an important role in expanding the country’s pool of doctors, specialists and other health professionals.
For the university, the new 30-seater bus represents more than a transport facility.
It also reflects a broader partnership between the state government and an institution expected to contribute to education, healthcare and human capital development in Delta State and beyond.
