Azinge Charges Asaba Staff To Take Ownership Of Dennis Osadebay University

THE Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON, has urged Asaba indigenes employed at Dennis Osadebay University to become ambassadors of excellence by supporting the institution’s leadership and protecting its reputation.
He spoke while receiving a delegation of the Forum of Asaba Indigenous Staff at his palace during a courtesy visit.
The monarch said the presence of the university in Asaba places greater responsibility on indigenous staff to promote its success rather than create divisions or undermine established procedures.
He noted that Dennis Osadebay University is steadily developing and deserves the collective commitment of its workforce. He said sustained cooperation would help position the institution among Nigeria’s leading universities and improve its global standing.
Prof. Azinge encouraged the staff to embrace a sense of ownership by contributing positively to the university’s academic and administrative development. He said the institution should be seen as a source of pride for the Asaba community.
He also appealed to them to discourage cultism, drug abuse and every form of behaviour capable of damaging the university’s image or disrupting learning. According to him, discipline and unity remain essential to the institution’s long-term success.
The traditional ruler reminded the staff that students, especially those of Asaba origin, viewed them as role models. He urged them to uphold high ethical standards and mentor younger generations through exemplary conduct.
While promising to remain outside the routine administration of the university, Prof. Azinge advised the forum to work closely with the Town and Gown Committee whenever issues requiring community engagement arise. He assured members of his readiness to offer guidance whenever necessary.
He further encouraged them to promote Asaba’s cultural heritage within the university community while participating actively in initiatives that advance the development of both the institution and the host community.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Forum Chairman, Dr. Victor Amuwah, said members visited to express appreciation for the monarch’s contributions to the establishment and steady progress of Dennis Osadebay University. He added that the forum also sought his prayers and continued royal support as they contribute to the institution’s development.
