World Spelling Bee Champion Receives University Scholarship from Asaba Community

Community Rewards Academic Excellence

MASTER Great Chinedu Okediachi, winner of the gold medal at the 2026 Spelling Bee World Cup in Shanghai, China, has been awarded a university scholarship by the Asaba Community in recognition of his exceptional academic achievement.

The scholarship was announced by the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, during a reception held at the Royal Palace to celebrate the student’s international success.

The event attracted community leaders, family members, education stakeholders, representatives of Madonna International Schools and other well-wishers.

Recognition for Outstanding Performance

The monarch commended the young scholar for distinguishing himself on the global stage and for projecting a positive image of Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria and Africa.

He described the achievement as evidence of the immense potential of Nigerian youths when provided with quality education, guidance and encouragement.

Prof. Azinge also noted that the scholarship demonstrates the community’s commitment to recognising and rewarding academic excellence.
