Tantita’s Operations Have Strengthened Economy, Improved Security, Says Funkekeme Solomon

Solomon Commends Oil Asset Surveillance Initiative
SENIOR Policy Adviser to the Delta State Governor and Delta State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, has commended the Federal Government’s decision to engage Tantita Security Services Limited in the protection of critical oil infrastructure, saying the initiative has contributed to improved security and increased economic activity in the Niger Delta.
Speaking during an appearance on Beyond The Headlines on TVC, Solomon said the surveillance contract awarded to the company under the leadership of High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has helped curb crude oil theft and strengthen oil production.
According to him, the development has enhanced government revenues accruing to the federal, state and local governments.
Claims of Improved Security and Youth Empowerment
Solomon argued that the operations of Tantita Security Services Limited have extended beyond safeguarding oil facilities to promoting peace and creating employment opportunities across the Niger Delta.
He said thousands of young people had benefited from jobs linked to the surveillance operations, adding that improved security had reduced disruptions to crude oil production.
The former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly described Tompolo as a prominent Niger Delta leader whose involvement in protecting national oil assets had produced positive outcomes for both the region and the country.
He also said the Federal Government’s decision reflected confidence in the capacity of Niger Delta stakeholders to contribute to national development.
Support for Federal Government Policies
Beyond security matters, Solomon expressed support for the economic reforms introduced by the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He argued that recent policy measures had expanded fiscal resources available to governments at different levels and created a stronger foundation for long-term economic stability.
According to him, while the reforms may present short-term challenges, they are designed to deliver sustainable economic benefits over time.
Niger Delta Development Highlighted
Solomon also pointed to federal initiatives that he said had benefited the Niger Delta, including legislative backing for the Nigerian Maritime University in Okerenkoko and the establishment of an oil and gas medical facility in Benikrukru.
He maintained that these projects demonstrate the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding development opportunities within the region.
Call for Policy Continuity
The Delta politician cautioned against reversing major economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy, arguing that policy consistency is necessary to consolidate existing gains.
He said maintaining ongoing reforms would strengthen investor confidence and support Nigeria’s long-term economic development.
Solomon added that sustained implementation of government policies would better position the country to achieve greater economic stability while delivering broader development outcomes for citizens.
