Oborevwori Hails Legislative Cooperation As Delta Celebrates Governance Milestone

Governor Reflects on Three Years of Governance
DELTA State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has described cooperation between the Executive and Legislative arms as one of the major factors responsible for the state’s development achievements over the last three years.
Speaking during the third anniversary thanksgiving service of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly in Asaba, the governor said institutional harmony has enabled government to pursue development objectives without unnecessary distractions.
He maintained that effective governance flourishes when elected leaders work together in the public interest.
Development Linked to Institutional Stability
The governor said the relationship between his administration and the state legislature has created an environment conducive to policy implementation and infrastructure development.
He praised lawmakers for their support, commitment and willingness to engage constructively on issues affecting the state.
According to him, the collaborative atmosphere has contributed to the execution of projects across sectors while strengthening public confidence in government.
Oborevwori stressed that political stability remains a critical requirement for sustainable development and economic progress.
Leadership Anchored on Faith
The governor reiterated his commitment to leading the state with integrity and the fear of God.
He said faith and trust in divine guidance have played an important role in the successes recorded by his administration.
Encouraging citizens and political leaders alike to pray for those in authority, he argued that effective leadership requires wisdom, humility and accountability.
Oborevwori also commended the Assembly for sustaining a culture of thanksgiving, describing gratitude as an important virtue in public service.
Call for Stronger Citizen Engagement
A major part of the governor’s message focused on the need for lawmakers to strengthen communication between government and the people.
He noted that legislators occupy a strategic position in governance because of their direct interaction with communities.
Through constituency meetings and consultations, he said lawmakers can help residents understand government policies while ensuring that local concerns receive attention at the state level.
The governor emphasized that his administration remains committed to inclusive development, with projects distributed across all local government areas.
Assembly Celebrates Progress and Partnership

According to him, the Assembly has focused on passing laws, conducting oversight and supporting policies designed to improve governance and economic development.
Guwor also highlighted the cordial relationship among the three arms of government, describing it as a model of democratic cooperation.
Sermon Focuses on Wisdom and Service

Referencing biblical teachings, he stated that success in leadership depends not only on human ability but also on wisdom and favour from God.
He praised the state government’s development efforts, particularly in infrastructure, and urged leaders to remain committed to service and accountability.
