62nd NBA Conference Opens In Lagos
The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, on Monday said that he was eager to see the legal profession return to its pride of place in Nigeria.
Ariwoola spoke while declaring open 62nd Annual General Conference (AGC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), in Lagos.
The conference had the theme: ”Bold Transitions”.
He was represented by the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba.
Ariwoola said that the theme of the conference was apt, as boldness was much needed in the society.
“The Nigerian Bar Association has chosen to do a right thing at the most appropriate time.
“These are the times when boldness becomes necessary; so, no better theme could have been chosen and no better words could have been chosen to highlight what we truly need in Nigeria,” he said.
The acting chief justice said that ethics of the legal profession had been of much interest to him.
“It is because of who we are, gentlemen and ladies; therefore, that tradition must be restored,” he said.
Ariwoola said there was need for the legal profession to return to its pride of place where lawyers were given desired audience and respect.
‘I am eager to see the legal profession return to its pride of place.
According to him, legal practioners must leave a good legacy for the younger generation.
