TUC Throws Weight Behind Oborevwori’s Worker-Centred Agenda

Labour Union Endorses Government Agenda
THE Delta State chapter of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has expressed strong support for the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, aligning itself with the core pillars of his M.O.R.E Agenda aimed at promoting inclusive governance and sustainable development.
Speaking in Asaba, the state chairman of the TUC, Comrade Wilson Asekutu, described the policy framework as a strategic roadmap capable of strengthening collaboration between government and organised labour while fostering economic growth.
Driving Worker-Friendly Policies
Asekutu noted that the M.O.R.E Agenda—an acronym for Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security—resonates strongly with the aspirations of workers across the state.
He emphasized that since the introduction of the agenda, the TUC has remained a committed partner in its implementation, contributing to the advancement of policies that prioritize workers’ welfare and productivity.
According to him, the Congress sees the agenda as a pathway to achieving a balanced system where workers’ rights and economic objectives are mutually reinforced.
Workers as Pillars of Development
Highlighting the importance of labour in governance, Asekutu described workers as the “engine room” of policy execution and public service delivery.
He stressed that effective governance cannot be achieved without a motivated workforce, adding that the existing synergy between the state government and labour unions has already begun to yield positive results in terms of industrial harmony.
Strengthening Industrial Harmony
The TUC chairman further pointed out that sustained dialogue and cooperation between both parties have helped maintain peace within the workforce, thereby creating an enabling environment for development.
He reaffirmed the Congress’ commitment to deepening this partnership, noting that a stable labour environment is critical to attracting investment and ensuring long-term prosperity in the state.
