Primary Elections Stall Akwa Ibom Anniversary Projects Rollout

Government Announces Postponement
THE Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the postponement of activities marking the third anniversary of Governor Umo Eno, particularly the commissioning of projects earlier scheduled to hold between 13 and 25 May 2026.
The announcement, issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, said the decision was taken to accommodate political stakeholders ahead of the forthcoming primary elections.
Elections Take Priority
According to the government, the rescheduling became necessary to enable political actors, community leaders, and party supporters to return to their respective wards and local government areas to actively participate in the primaries.
The overlap between the commissioning events and political activities was cited as a key reason for the shift, underscoring the importance of grassroots political engagement during the electoral process.
New Dates to Be Announced
Authorities assured that a fresh timetable for the commissioning of projects would be communicated in due course.
The government expressed appreciation to residents and stakeholders for their understanding, noting that the postponement does not affect its commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure and development initiatives across the state.
Commitment to Development Reaffirmed
Despite the delay, the administration reiterated its resolve to sustain development efforts under its policy framework, assuring citizens that ongoing and completed projects would be commissioned at a later date.
The government also apologised for any inconvenience caused, while thanking the public for continued support and cooperation.
