Royal Father Joins Faithful in Father’s Day Observance
HIS Royal Majesty, Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, joined members of the Roman Catholic Church to commemorate the 2026 Father’s Day celebration at his palace in Asaba, Delta State.
The event brought together clergy, faithful, and community members in a solemn yet celebratory atmosphere marked by prayers, reflection, and thanksgiving.
Fatherhood Described as Sacred Responsibility
Addressing the congregation, the monarch, fondly known as Nna Agu, described fatherhood as a sacred trust bestowed by God, one that requires sacrifice, presence, and moral leadership.
He commended fathers across Asaba Kingdom, Delta State, and Nigeria for their resilience and commitment to nurturing children with strong values and faith.
“The society we build tomorrow depends on how you father today,” he said, urging men to remain steadfast in their responsibilities.
Prayers for Strength and Economic Stability
The royal father led special prayers for divine strength, wisdom, and blessings upon fathers, while also highlighting the importance of economic empowerment.
He prayed for improved opportunities and enabling environments that would allow fathers to fulfil their roles with dignity, particularly in the face of economic challenges.
Commitment to Family-Centred Development
Reaffirming his leadership priorities, the monarch emphasised his commitment to policies and initiatives that strengthen families and create opportunities for young people within the Asaba Kingdom.
He noted that sustainable societal growth begins with stable family structures supported by responsible parenting.
Mass, Music and Community Participation
The celebration featured a Holy Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Jonathan Ubaka Allanah and Rev. Fr. Christopher Chukwuka Oforlea.
The event was further enriched by special prayers and choral renditions performed by the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria, Asaba region, adding a vibrant spiritual dimension to the gathering.
