Heritage & History: Monarch Honours Asaba Icons With New Monuments

HIS Royal Majesty, Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, has commissioned two landmark monuments to honour the late Obi Chief Peter Nwanze Oduah and Obi Chief Patrick Isioma Goodluck Onyeobi.
The unveiling ceremony, held in Asaba, attracted community leaders, family members, and residents who gathered to witness the historic event.

The Asagba emphasised that the monuments serve as enduring symbols of the contributions made by the two chiefs to the development of Asaba Kingdom.
He encouraged the people of Asaba to preserve their heritage and uphold the values exemplified by the honoured figures.

The monarch praised sculptor Augustine Okonma for delivering the projects within a short timeframe, describing the effort as commendable.
He nonetheless called for refinements to ensure the monuments fully reflect the stature of the individuals being honoured.

Community leaders, including Chris Chukwurah, highlighted the role of such initiatives in promoting cultural tourism.
