Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Omo-Agege’s Aide Joins PDP
Barely a month after he dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress over the contentious Muslim-Muslim ticket, a die-hard chieftain of the APC, Daniel Bwala, announced that he had joined the Peoples Democratic Party.
Bwala, who was a Special Adviser on Legal and Constitutional Matters to the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, had announced his resignation on July 10.
The legal practitioner had renounced his membership of the party after the APC presidential flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, unveiled former Borno governor, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate.
While defending his position to quit the party, Bwala said his decision was based on “principles and conviction.”
His resignation had trended on social media and online platforms hours after the announcement, with many referring to him as a former National Legal Adviser of the APC.
The viral report forced the ruling party to issue a disclaimer 24 hours after his exit, dismissing speculations that Bwala was the party’s legal adviser.
In his reaction, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, stated that the party had never at any point engaged Bwala as a legal counsel, adding that Ahmad El-Marzuq remained the official Legal Adviser
