Delta Police Nab Four Robbery Suspects in Asaba Operations

RRS, Crack Squad Record Breakthrough in Asaba
OPERATIVES of the Delta State Police Command have arrested four suspected armed robbers in Asaba during coordinated security operations aimed at curbing crime in the state capital.
The suspects were apprehended on Thursday 23 April during routine patrols and stop-and-search exercises conducted by officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and the Crack Squad.
Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that the operations led to the recovery of a fabricated Beretta pistol, a locally made cut-to-size firearm, and one live cartridge.
Suspects Intercepted at Different Locations
According to the police, the first arrest occurred along Ugbolu/Asaba Road, where officers intercepted a 28-year-old suspect, Chinoso Igwemma, after noticing suspicious behaviour.
A search conducted on the suspect reportedly led to the recovery of a fabricated pistol.
In a separate operation at the Bonsaac area of Asaba, the Crack Squad stopped a tricycle conveying three other suspects identified as Benjamin Chinecherem, Nwabueze Kelvin, and Okonkwo Celestine.
Security operatives said a locally made firearm loaded with a live cartridge was recovered during the search.
Police Vow Sustained Crackdown
Preliminary investigations indicate the suspects may be linked to robbery attacks targeting residents.
Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the command’s resolve to sustain intelligence-led policing and dismantle criminal networks across the state.
All four suspects remain in custody while investigations continue.
