Digital Platform Launched to Expand Women’s Opportunities
IN commemoration of International Women’s Day 2026, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has unveiled the Happy Woman Digital Platform during a private launch in Lagos.
The initiative is designed to strengthen women’s access to economic resources, including finance, skills development, and market opportunities, as part of broader federal efforts to promote inclusion.
From Policy to Practical Impact
The minister highlighted the need to move beyond policy discussions to actionable solutions that directly improve women’s daily lives.
She explained that many women remain excluded from essential opportunities not due to lack of effort, but because of limited access to enabling systems.
Platform as a Central Connector
Describing the platform as a digital backbone, Sulaiman-Ibrahim said it integrates multiple government interventions into a single system that connects women to opportunities in real time.
The platform aligns with national programmes under the Renewed Hope Social Impact Interventions 774 framework, which seeks to deliver support at the grassroots level across Nigeria.
Focus on Inclusion and Scale
The minister emphasised that the initiative is inclusive, covering women in rural communities, urban centres, and informal sectors such as small-scale farming and trading.
She also underscored the economic importance of women, noting that they represent a majority of the population and play a critical role in national development.
Calling for collaboration from public and private stakeholders, she described the platform as a movement rather than a one-off project, with an ambition to reach up to 10 million Nigerian women over time.
