Oborevwori Inaugurates Grassroots Coordinators to Deepen Political Mobilisation
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has inaugurated Local Government and Ward Coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots political engagement across the state.
The ceremony, held in Asaba, brought together government officials, party leaders, and stakeholders, marking a significant expansion of the initiative’s structure at the community level.
Expanding Grassroots Structure
Represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, the governor said the inauguration of 25 Local Government and 270 Ward Coordinators would create a direct link between the government and the people.
He described the coordinators as critical to driving the movement’s vision, noting that the initiative is designed to ensure better communication, mobilisation, and responsiveness at the grassroots.
“This is not just recognition; it is empowerment,” Onyeme said, adding that the coordinators are expected to engage communities, listen to concerns, and effectively communicate government policies.
He stressed that unity and coordinated messaging would be key to achieving the objectives of the Renewed Hope agenda.
Mandate for Coordinators
The governor tasked the newly inaugurated officials with promoting government achievements and strengthening public trust through consistent engagement.
He also urged them to highlight key policies of President Bola Tinubu, including reforms such as fuel subsidy removal and social intervention programmes.
Leaders Emphasise Unity, Communication
Speaking at the event, former Delta State Governor and South-South Coordinator of the group, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, described the initiative as a structured platform to communicate government policies and counter misinformation.
He encouraged the coordinators to work closely with party leaders at all levels to ensure effective mobilisation.
Similarly, APC State Chairman, Chief Solomon Areyenka, expressed confidence in the party’s growing strength in Delta, while APC National Vice Chairman (South-South), Hon. Victor Giadom, reminded the coordinators of their role as representatives of the party at the grassroots.
Call for Commitment
State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, described the inauguration as a strategic step toward building a functional grassroots network.
He urged the coordinators to demonstrate dedication, integrity, and unity in advancing the movement’s objectives across the state.
