Oborevwori Administration Rolls Out 2024/2025 Student Assistance Scheme

Delta Government Begins 2024/2025 Bursary Disbursement
THE Delta State Government has announced that payments for the 2024/2025 Students Special Assistance Scheme, popularly known as the Bursary Award, will commence on 10 March 2026.
The announcement was made in a public service statement issued in Asaba by the Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, Godfrey O. Enita.
According to the statement, the payment will be made to eligible students of Delta State origin who are currently enrolled in tertiary institutions across Nigeria and who have successfully completed the registration and verification processes required for the bursary programme.
Support for Students Across Nigeria
The Students Special Assistance Scheme is one of the state’s major educational support initiatives aimed at easing the financial burden faced by students from Delta State studying in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across the country.
Dr. Enita explained that the scheme reflects the state government’s sustained commitment to supporting the welfare and academic success of Delta students, regardless of the location of their institutions.
“The bursary payment is part of the government’s continuous efforts to assist students and encourage them to remain focused on their studies while pursuing higher education,” the statement noted.
The Board emphasized that only students who successfully completed the application, verification, and validation stages of the programme will receive payments.
Commitment to Human Capital Development
Dr. Enita also expressed appreciation to the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for his consistent support for educational initiatives and youth development across the state.
He noted that the bursary programme is closely aligned with the governor’s development blueprint known as the M.O.R.E Agenda, which places strong emphasis on human capital development, education, and economic empowerment.
According to him, the administration views education as a critical driver of social and economic progress and is committed to ensuring that students from the state have access to the support needed to complete their academic programmes successfully.
Encouragement to Beneficiaries
The Board urged all beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity provided by the bursary scheme by maintaining strong academic performance and upholding the values associated with Delta State.
Students were also encouraged to serve as ambassadors of the state in their respective institutions by demonstrating integrity, discipline, and excellence in their academic pursuits.
The Executive Secretary reiterated that the bursary scheme remains one of the state government’s most impactful student-focused policies designed to promote educational access and reduce financial pressures on families.
Sustaining Educational Investment
The Delta State Government has continued to prioritise investments in education through scholarships, bursaries, and infrastructure development in schools across the state.
Officials say the bursary programme is expected to benefit thousands of Delta students studying in different parts of Nigeria, providing financial support that will help them focus more effectively on their academic work.
With the disbursement set to begin on 10th March, eligible beneficiaries are expected to receive their payments through the channels already provided during the registration process.
