Uvwie Monarch Launches Autobiography, “Odyssey Of Royalty – Abe I,” Calls For Unity And National Renewal
THE Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel E. Sideso, Abe I, has officially presented and launched his autobiography titled “Odyssey of Royalty – Abe I” at a well-attended ceremony held at the Uvwie Palace in Effurun, Delta State.
The event, which took place on February 14, 2026, drew dignitaries from across Nigeria, including top government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, and members of the public.
In his keynote address, the monarch expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life and the privilege of witnessing the historic moment at the age of 83. He described the book as a truthful account of his journey from private service to the throne, his experiences as a traditional ruler, and the collective achievements of the Uvwie Kingdom under his reign.
HRM Sideso said the autobiography was inspired by the need to preserve history, promote cultural identity, and document the transformative progress of the kingdom. He noted that the publication would help younger generations understand the values, struggles, and victories that have shaped Uvwie.
Reflecting on his 18 years on the throne, the monarch highlighted the rapid growth, improved public infrastructure, and relative peace recorded in Uvwie. He attributed the progress to unity, resilience, and the shared commitment of Uvwie people.
He also spoke about his professional journey, which included a 30-year career at the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company. He acknowledged the support of his wife, who retired as a Deputy General Manager at First Bank, and celebrated his son, Ediri, who became the first Black head of surgeons at Oxford University Teaching Hospital in the United Kingdom.
Addressing national issues, HRM Sideso commended ongoing government efforts to reposition Nigeria but called for the adoption of a people-focused constitution that guarantees justice and fairness for all. He expressed concern over rising airfares and appealed to airlines to consider a downward review in the interest of national development.
The monarch also urged traditional and religious leaders to work with government to promote unity, reduce hardship, and support citizens through difficult times. He encouraged Nigerians to remain resilient, saying the country would overcome its current challenges.
HRM Sideso extended appreciation to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for ongoing infrastructural development in Uvwie and acknowledged the contributions of past governors, including James Ibori, Emmanuel Uduaghan, and Ifeanyi Okowa, particularly in the area of education and scholarship support.
He ended his address with prayers for Uvwie Kingdom, Delta State, and Nigeria.
