Delta Commissioner Champions Education: NIN Registration, Exam Fees Covered

Education Takes Centre Stage in Delta Communities
DELTA State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, has taken decisive steps to secure the academic future of students in Oginibo, Imode, and Agbaghare communities of Ughelli South Local Government Area. What began as an All Progressives Congress (APC) membership e-registration exercise evolved into a broader educational intervention after officials discovered that many secondary school students lacked the mandatory National Identification Number (NIN), crucial for registration in the 2026 WAEC, NECO, and JAMB examinations.
Recognizing the risk this posed to students’ academic aspirations, Comrade Izeze personally sponsored the NIN registration of affected students, ensuring no eligible candidate would be barred from participating in national examinations. The initiative has since been expanded, reopening the registration window to accommodate more students from the three communities.
Restoring Local Examination Centre
The intervention gained further urgency following the deactivation of the NECO examination centre at Oginibo Secondary School. Without intervention, students would have had to travel long distances, facing additional financial and logistical burdens, and raising the risk of absenteeism or dropouts. Comrade Izeze stepped in to fund the restoration of the centre. Officials from the NECO Zonal Office later conducted assessments and officially reactivated the facility, securing a local venue for students to sit their exams.
Relieving Financial Burdens
In a move aimed at easing parental financial strain, Comrade Izeze also pledged to cover NECO examination fees for all students registering at Oginibo Secondary School this year. This gesture comes amid mounting educational costs, including WAEC and JAMB registrations, and has been widely lauded by parents, guardians, and community leaders as a demonstration of proactive and people-focused leadership.
Community Impact and Legacy
Residents of Oginibo, Imode, and Agbaghare have expressed gratitude, noting that the interventions have restored hope and safeguarded the dreams of young students. Comrade Izeze’s approach reflects a leadership philosophy that places education at the core of sustainable development, underscoring the belief that while infrastructure builds roads, education secures the future.
This educational initiative builds on Comrade Izeze’s earlier effort, where he sponsored NIN registration for over 500 APC members previously excluded from party e-registration. By addressing administrative hurdles, he ensured their successful inclusion in the membership database, demonstrating consistency in leveraging solutions for social empowerment.
By combining administrative foresight, financial support, and community engagement, Comrade Izeze has transformed what was initially a party membership exercise into a multi-dimensional educational intervention, protecting students’ access to critical national examinations and setting a standard for community-focused governance.
