Oborevwori Laying Foundation for A New, Sustainable Delta —Awharemuire
GOVERNOR Sheriff Oborevwori has been praised as a divinely positioned leader whose people-focused governance is shaping a new and sustainable Delta State.
The commendation came from the Parish Priest of St. Williams Catholic Church, Orerokpe, Rev. Fr. Peter Awharemuire, during the 70th Thanksgiving Mass of Lady Doris Onoriode Ejinyere, which the Governor attended.
Delivering a homily drawn from Jeremiah 29:10–14, Rev. Fr. Awharemuire said the Governor’s emergence was part of a divine plan.
“Your leadership was ordained by God long before your birth. What Delta is experiencing today is the unfolding of God’s purpose. Leadership is by the Spirit of God, not by power or might,” he said.
The priest noted that the improvements recorded across key sectors— infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and community development—reflect divine guidance and focused leadership.
He added that confidence has been restored across communities, describing the progress as the fruit of intentional and people-centred governance.
Rev. Fr. Awharemuire further stated that Governor Oborevwori is not only delivering physical projects but also strengthening institutions that will outlive his administration.
“He is not just constructing roads, bridges, hospitals and schools; he is building systems. That is why we say he is creating a new Delta,” he said.
According to him, the ongoing reforms are designed to benefit both present and future generations, adding that the Governor’s achievements have already secured him a place in the political history of the state.
He described the Governor as a courageous and humble leader who listens, builds and upholds justice.
The priest advised him to continue leading with wisdom and assured him of the Church’s prayers for peace and divine direction.
Rev. Fr. Awharemuire also offered prayers for the celebrant, Lady Doris Ejinyere, whom he described as a just and fair-minded woman.
In his remarks, Governor Oborevwori congratulated Lady Ejinyere on her 70th birthday, describing her as principled, dependable and committed to family and service.
He celebrated the unity of the Ejinyere family and prayed for her continued good health, peace and long life.
Lady Ejinyere expressed gratitude to her family, friends and well-wishers for their support over the years. She also thanked the Governor, saying his achievements were so visible that “even the blind can see them and the deaf can hear them.”
