Governor Reacts to Siakpere’s Passing
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed sadness over the passing of Chief David Mafuvbe Siakpere, former Principal of Government College Ughelli, who died on 18 January at 84.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor described Siakpere as a distinguished educationist, disciplined administrator, and committed Urhobo leader whose life was devoted to service and mentorship.
Sympathy to Family and Stakeholders
Governor Oborevwori extended condolences to the Egbo-Uhurie Community, the Siakpere family, GCU Old Boys, and the Urhobo nation, describing the loss as deeply painful.
He noted that Siakpere’s contributions to education and community leadership earned him admiration across Delta State and beyond.

The Governor said Siakpere’s leadership at Government College Ughelli represented a defining period in the school’s history, characterized by academic excellence, moral discipline, and strong character formation.
He emphasized that the late principal was not only an administrator but a mentor who helped shape future leaders through firm guidance and ethical values.
