41 Per Ward, 984 Total: Inside Ukodhiko’s Christmas Welfare Drive
IN a bid to spread festive cheer and support vulnerable residents, Rep. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko has begun the distribution of Christmas relief materials across Isoko North and South Federal Constituency. The exercise, which commenced on Tuesday in Erawha-Owhe, focused on widows and indigent persons drawn from communities across Isoko Nation.
The outreach saw beneficiaries receiving bags of rice and wrappers, with the initiative designed to reduce economic hardship during the Christmas season and promote a sense of inclusion among vulnerable groups.
Representing the lawmaker, Pastor Sunny Elueni said the programme reflects Rep. Ukodhiko’s commitment to people-oriented leadership and aligns with both the federal and state governments’ development agendas. He explained that the first phase covered 984 beneficiaries, selected evenly from the 24 wards in the constituency.
According to him, the distribution would be expanded in the second phase on December 24, with 100 beneficiaries per ward scheduled to receive similar support, ensuring broader reach and impact.
Felix Ofou, Delta South Coordinator of the Widows Welfare Scheme, lauded the lawmaker for his consistent concern for widows and the less privileged, describing the gesture as timely and deeply reassuring. Beneficiaries also expressed gratitude, noting that the support would significantly ease their festive burdens.
