Oshimili North Chairman Vows Peace, Due Process In Council Affairs

Esewezie Pledges Peaceful Executive-Legislative Relations
OSHIMILI North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, has cautioned councillors against resorting to illegal actions, warning that any form of rascality capable of destabilising the council would not be tolerated.
Speaking while receiving the newly elected legislative leadership in Akwukwu-Igbo, Esewezie condemned the circumstances surrounding the removal of the former Leader of the House, saying the use of force portrayed the councillors as lawless and undermined public confidence in the council.
He emphasised that both arms of government must work harmoniously within the law to deliver development and improve the welfare of residents.
The Clerk of the House, Mr. Benedict Agboje, tendered an apology over the December 11 incident and explained that the former leader was removed for failing to comply with legislative rules. He announced the new leadership team, headed by Mr. Henry Olowo.
In his acceptance speech, Olowo assured that the legislature would uphold democratic values, protect its independence and prioritise laws that promote development and good governance in Oshimili North.
