Delta Governor Swears In Officials, Stresses Merit

DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has described the civil service as the engine of governance, stressing that integrity, discipline and merit must guide public administration.
He made the remarks during the swearing-in of members of the Delta State Civil Service Commission and newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, urging them to see their appointments as a call to higher responsibility.
The governor said the reappointment of the commission members followed strong performance records and legislative confirmation, while the Permanent Secretaries were appointed strictly on competence, in line with civil service reform objectives.
Oborevwori charged the Civil Service Commission to uphold fairness and professionalism, while urging Permanent Secretaries to lead by example and contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
He outlined measures taken to boost staff morale, including pension payments, promotions, training opportunities and improved working conditions.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, Comrade Olumami Oyibo thanked the governor for the trust placed in them and assured of their commitment to efficient service delivery.
