Super Falcons Slide To 37th In Latest FIFA Rankings

NIGERIA’S Super Falcons have dropped to 37th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, a decline attributed to their inactivity since their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Benin Republic. The nine-time African champions have not played any international matches in recent months, which directly affected their global ranking.
Despite the setback, the Super Falcons remain Africa’s highest-ranked women’s team, staying ahead of continental rivals South Africa and Ghana, who occupy second and third spots respectively. Zambia and Morocco complete the top five in Africa, reflecting a highly competitive field as teams intensify preparations for upcoming qualifiers and international tournaments.
FIFA’s updated ranking, released on Thursday, recorded Nigeria with 1,607.063 points, signaling the need for the Super Falcons to return to regular international action if they hope to climb the global ladder.
