A medical doctor suspected of providing medical supplies to kidnapping syndicates operating across parts of Kwara State has been arrested by security operatives. The suspect was reportedly intercepted in Jebba, Moro Local Government Area, following credible intelligence that linked him to the movement of drugs from Sokoto to armed criminal groups hiding in remote forest zones.
According to security sources, investigators had been monitoring increased activity among the kidnapping rings, particularly their efforts to secure medical treatment for members who sustained gunshot wounds during clashes with law enforcement. The arrest is believed to be a major breakthrough in disrupting the support network that has enabled the gangs to continue operations despite intensified security pressure.
The incident has also heightened concerns about the vulnerability of health facilities located near forested areas. Security sources warn that as kidnappers struggle to access medical care, they may begin targeting remote clinics and hospitals.
“We are advising improved security measures in health facilities in thickly forested areas which the kidnappers may target,” a source cautioned, urging authorities to strengthen surveillance and tighten access to medical supplies that could be diverted to criminal groups.
