Army Rescues Four Passengers Kidnapped By Sea Pirates On Nigeria–Cameroon Waterway

By FRED LONGJOHN OBEH
FOUR passengers abducted by suspected sea pirates along the Nigeria–Cameroon waterways have been rescued unharmed by the Nigerian Army, security sources confirmed.
The victims — Ebuka Clinton, Alice David Albino, Usin Divine, and another passenger — were kidnapped on 2 December 2025 while travelling by speed boat from Ikang Beach in Bakassi to Isanghele Fishing Pond in Cameroon. The attackers intercepted the boat and took them to an unknown hideout.
The pirates fled after sighting an approaching Army patrol boat, firing sporadically before abandoning the hostages as they escaped toward the Cameroonian creeks.
One victim, Blessing Bassey Edem, sustained a gunshot wound to the buttock and, along with the others, was taken to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, where all are responding to treatment.
Security agencies have intensified patrols along the waterways to curb further attacks.
