Defection Fever Hits Akwukwu-Igbo
IN a season of defections, as politicians were said to be pitching their tents where they deem it most favourable, ahead of the 2023 politicking, Akwukwu-Igbo, headquarters of Oshimili North Local Government Ares of Delta State, appeared to take its turn in the current criss cross by politicians.
One Joe Obi (Alias Obobo), returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that the the All Progressives Congress (APC), is a ‘no-go area’ in Akwukwu-Igbo, in Oshimili North and Delta State at large. Obi, who is from Ogbe-Obi Quarters of Akwukwu-Igbo, same quarters with late Chief Michael Agbamuche, who was Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) under the late General Sani Abacha junta, regretted ever leaving PDP for the APC, stating that no reasonable Nigerian will associate with the APC, in the face of the hardship and bad leadership the ruling party has brought upon Nigerians.
Present at the defection party were the Ward 1 Chairman, Mr. Collins Ogbor and the Ward Executive members, including Hon. (Chief) Tony Ogbo, Chief Joseph Ikechukwu Iwegbu and numerous party faithful.
