2027: Uzodimma, Oborevwori, Okowa Push Unified Messaging, Grassroots Mobilisation At South-South APC Summit

THE Governor of Imo State and Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, have called for coordinated messaging and stronger grassroots mobilisation across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Both leaders made the call on Monday during the South-South Strategic Communications and Mobilisation Summit held at Government House, Asaba. The summit, themed “One Party, One Message, One Mobilisation,” brought together key political figures, including Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, to harmonise communication strategies for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Uzodimma, in his remarks, said the summit produced a comprehensive national work plan with timelines and deliverables targeted at driving economic growth and national development. He described the plan as the “compass and spine” for all Renewed Hope Ambassadors nationwide.
He noted that despite improvements in macro-economic indicators—such as GDP growth, increased oil production and improved revenue allocation—a disconnect still exists between these gains and the experiences of citizens at the grassroots. According to him, ambassadors must close this gap through clear, simplified communication of government policies.
“You are the interpreters of government vision and the bridge between performance and public understanding. You must go where the President cannot reach and explain reforms in ways people understand,” he said.
Uzodimma acknowledged that reforms such as fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate adjustments have created temporary hardship, but insisted that the measures are necessary to correct decades of structural imbalances. He urged participants to adopt transparent, conversational, and data-driven engagement while countering misinformation with verifiable facts.
In his address, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori described the summit as a strategic platform to strengthen the party’s structures and deepen mobilisation in the South-South region. He emphasised that unity and consistent messaging are critical to political success.
“Unity must be matched with action. We must take the message to the people, defend our reforms and mobilise effectively,” he said.
Earlier, former Delta State Governor and South-South Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, said the summit was organised to equip participants with the tools needed to communicate the administration’s reform agenda more effectively. He explained that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is targeted at long-standing economic and social challenges, including weak fiscal systems, unemployment and low investor confidence.
Okowa listed improvements in foreign reserves, oil production, healthcare expansion, education reforms and infrastructure development among notable achievements of the administration. However, he admitted that communication gaps have limited public appreciation of these gains.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion and South-West Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Adedayo Adeyeye, described the South-South as Nigeria’s economic backbone and expressed confidence that the APC would secure victory in the 2027 polls. He noted that the region’s growing alignment with the APC reflects wider acceptance of the party’s policies.
Participants were urged to replicate the strategies discussed at the summit in their respective states and local government areas through measurable actions, consistent engagement and unified messaging.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme; APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru; National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka; APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Emmanuel Eneukwu; South-South Chairman, Victor Giadom; Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas; Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; and other federal and state lawmakers from the region.
The summit ended with a renewed call for coordinated action, discipline and sustained public engagement to support ongoing reforms and secure future electoral victories.
